Product: SANYO TV
Targeted Audience: Senior Citizens
Feedback:
Reverse engineering to me means to disassemble and analyze in detail a product or device to discover the concepts involved in manufacture usually in order to produce something similar but better. This type of engineering is practice in the industry because it’s a better an easier way to come up and brainstorm ideas to better the product and make it easier and better for the consumer to use. For industries using forward engineering I think are wasting time as far as coming up with better products. The reason why is why build the product and wait on customers’ feedback when you all ready know what the product looks like so why not use reverse engineering so you can start adding on and coming up with ideas and brainstorming how you can make the product better. Using reverse engineering helps you keep loyal customers and gain new customers because while you came out with a new and improved product you’re already making a better product the customers want and know that the next new and improved product is coming soon so you’ll eventually wind up drawing new customers.

The criteria of the product are it must be an energy star product; the ergonomics must accommodate health conditions of consumer and must be large enough for poor vision. Also the design must accommodate the hearing-impaired. The constraints of the project are that the maximum retail price has to be $299.99, product is available in three colors also the use of economical components to manufacture new product. The criteria assisted me with developing new products by letting me know how much I was able to purchase and what needed to be added. For this product the key components that required an upgrade was the weight of the product the size of the screen the video cords and other important factors. The processes I practice for this project was taking the project apart using reverse engineering and comparing the old television to the modern television.  But instead of adding all the parts that the new and improve television had, I added the parts that were best fit to improve the old television for senior citizens.

My personal opinion about the outcome of this new and improve product is positively strong. The reason why is because I had improve the TV to the senior citizens needs in many ways. Such as making it lighter in weight wise, video input, HDMI input and a DVD built in on the side. That way when the senior citizens have company and their company wants to watch a movie or hook up a game to the TV, it’s capable for the action to be done.

Product: (DS13980 Sanyo Television)
Targeted Audience: (Senior Citizens (Retired))
Feedback:
Reverse engineering is the process of discovering the technological principles of a mechanical application through analysis of its structure, function and operation. Usually to construct a new device or program that does the same thing without actually copying anything from the original. Reverse engineering is the process of deconstructing a system in order to learn how it works and how to make it do things it wasn't designed to do while forward engineering just adds new features to the same product but making it better. It keeps the same customers by making the product the old product better so customer’s would want to buy it and new customers would want to buy it because it would be a new product and it would look different with new features and functions.
The criteria were making the product senior citizen friendly and making it was they could enjoy their television. The new product fixed most of the constraints like adding AV jacks, adding better subtitles, making the product lighter but still adding a bigger screen. We were able to avoid having the same problems as before. The speaker, the screen, the color, and the cable all needed to be upgraded. First we took apart the product next we sketched the components of the product the we researched after that we design our own product.

In conclusion I think the product was a success. I learned a lot during this process. I learned what reverse engineering was and how to use it. Reverse engineering is a great process and any company that uses it is more than likely successful. In the near future I hope to use the reverse engineering process again.

Reverse Engineering

Reverse Engineering
Product: Calculator
Targeted Audience: 10 year olds and older
Feedback: I thought the reversed engineering project was cool because it was very interesting to me, to see what was inside of the calculator
Reverse engineering is going backwards in the design process starting from the end to the beginning. Instead of putting something together it’s being taken apart. Reverse engineering is produced in this industry to find out what certain things are built from, and how they operate. Forward engineering is going forward in the design process from beginning to end. They are different because one starts from the beginning, and the other starts from the end. Loyal customers can have discounts while gaining new customers because they are counted on.
The criteria’s and constraints of my team’s product were to take apart a calculator, and put it back together with changes made to it. We had to better the calculator to make it from economical materials for anyone to use. It had to be in three different colors to accommodate the interests of males and females. My colors were red, green, and blue. The price range had to be $24.99. The criteria assisted me with developing the new product by showing me what I could and couldn’t do, what I had to do, and how I had to do it. The screen required an upgrade. In the process, I sketched the front, side, and back views of the calculator on to engineering grid paper. Then, I took the calculator apart, took out all of the components and identified them, and I sketched them on to engineering grid paper. And lastly, I used engineering grid paper to sketch my new product.
I thought the reversed engineering project was cool because it was very interesting to me, to see what was inside of the calculator. I learned a lot of new things out of this project that I didn’t know before. It was fun designing my own calculator, and making it better. I like reversed engineering, and I want to do another project like that again.

Reverse Engineering

Product: Audio Logic Radio
Targeted Audience: Everyone
Feedback:

In my own words I would say that the interpretation of reverse engineering is that you need to go deep into a product such as taking it apart to finding various problems or solutions. The manufacturing process is with that they should know how to solve the problem with a product.   IT teaches that different products have different problems with it so take your time and find the problem with the product. When using reverse engineering your products should be outstanding so customers can enjoy it and more and more people will find out based on your costumers friends or business partners.

The criteria and constraints the product will be sold at a cheap price which will be sold for $99.99! It comes in various colors that you can choose from. The criteria’s are it being useful for business men and women to use for their needs. It also helped the product basically by making sure that all the details are correct for both genders of the human species. The key components that required an upgrade was the change in size, the power button and the CD player. IT should be slimmer and lighter so carries can obtain to hold it quiet often. Then the power button needed to be more visible, also which leads up to the CD cover which needed a more round shape so it could be better for recycled plastic. In why we use it as recycled plastic so it can be economic. What we had practiced is reverse engineering, it helped annotate understandings before we did the steps for the product. It also knows what to fix with the feedback with the customers and others.

My personal opinion about the project is that be detailed with everything you do to try to improve the product. Also you have to know what reverse engineering is based on to do the project. Also you will have to try to please the customer’s needs when it comes to building a project. But although the project helps meet all the customers criteria’s for the product. IT helps resolve all of the problems. With the customers feedback it should be easy to detect the problem.

Calculator

Product: Calculator for K-12
Targeted Audience: Students and Parents
Feedback:

I think reverse engineering is the ability to take something apart, identify the problem and make an innovation to maintain loyal customers in addition to gaining new customers. The reason why it is practiced in the industry is that if the costumer has a problem with the product then the company should be able to find what is making this happen and fix it.  Forward engineering is that you fix it while you’re working on it but reverse engineering is where you go back to see what is wrong with it and make a better product. It helps keep loyal customers because they know that they can tell you the problem that they are having and it will be fixed in the new update. It also helps you get customers because they know that your product is getting better and better with each update that comes out.
The criteria are that we had to make a calculator that kids could use from k-12, and it had to be at a reasonable price and be durable. The constraints were that it had to b environmental and that it didn’t have a really big budget. It helped me by telling me what I was looking for to make it better and it also kind of gave me a lay out on how I wanted the calculator to be built. The way it was built you wanted it to last longer that way the parents wouldn’t have to go out and buy one all the time. Well 1st I drew the product like it was made putting all the different components I saw. The next thing I did was I took it apart and saw how it worked and thought about what I could change to make it better. Then finally I drew my finished product that I wanted to turn in. I knew that it had to be durable and also had to be stylish for I can get my customers to buy it so I couldn’t think of a certain color so I made it were the customers had to design their own case for their calculator. I think this was a good idea because the company is making more money and also the costumers are happy because they can get any color or design they want. Then I made the calculator were it could be updated to more compacted math as their child got older. It could also share the screen on your calculator to your computer, smart board, and TV.
Overall I think this was a good investment to the company. I think once this product get to the market then the company will make the money that they put into it and more. I also think that it will save parents money from having to buy there kid a new calculator every time they got into a harder math and need more functions on the calculator.

Reverse Engineering Nizaire

Product:   Radio
Targeted Audience:   10 and up
Feedback: The project was very useful to me and worth doing again.

My interpretation of reverse engineering is, instead of building the object you are taking the object apart. You are finding out what you can do to make this object work even better than what it had been before. It is practiced in the industry because every day you want to make that product or that object to be able to work faster, easier to use and appeal to all audiences. Reverse engineering teaches one how the product really works, you get to look and see what is inside the radio and what makes it all happen. It also shows you what’s actually in the product that causing it to function properly.  On the other hand forward engineering is basically is how you start the project and make the project or object. It gains customers by being able to go back in to the project and figure out how can I make this better so that the customers I have can keep coming back and tell others, the customers can also give feedback or give suggestions on how they would like the product to work, making the engineers take the product apart and making it better.
My team’s product was the radio, the criteria of the radio was to make the radio slimmer, faster and appealing to every eye and also to make it Wi-Fi capable. Some of the constraints were that our $99.99 budget causing us to take off quality speakers, touch screen, sensors do to the budget. By having the criteria it gave us options and showed us where and what direction to with the project. The main key components of the radio were that the product was to heavy so we wanted to cut off some weight, second was the how the cd was injected in to the radio and ejected out, third was making the old buttons turn in to touch screen buttons, fourth was to make the radio come in different color ways like red white and black to appeal to all ages, fifth was to upgrade the speakers, we wanted smaller but better quality speakers. The process of this project was to fill out the packet and make a design brief and then take the object apart draw the interior and then research about our project (radio) and then draw another design brief about   how you want the project to look.
My feedback on this project is that I liked being able to go back and being able to check out how everything worked and where it was at. It was cool how I got to choose how I thought would change the radio and make it appealing to everyone else other than me.

Reverse Engineering

Product: Audio Logic Radio
Targeted Audience: Everyone
To me, reverse engineering really is what it says; engineering in reverse. When I first heard of it, I thought it would be cool to work backwards. It’s different to take a product apart instead of together, and much easier. It’s really interesting to see what it went in for the project. But before, I didn’t see the point. But I now understand the purpose of reverse engineering. The purpose is to redesign, improve and evolve the product. I think one could learn more from reverse engineering than forward since you actually discovered what you did wrong. When you use reverse engineering, you can learn from the mistakes you made and know what to do the next time. Therefore, if Apple, for instance, was to reverse engineer their new iPad, they could see why it was having heating issues and then fix that issue. Thus, they’re keeping their loyal customers while also gaining new ones.
In this project, we made it enjoyable for everyone. No matter the age, race, gender, etc., we know without a doubt this product would sell. We added a screen, larger buttons, larger text, the CD player at the top, and a remote for it. We even gave it a remote holder so you won’t lose your remote. The criteria helped us get the idea of what we wanted the new radio to be like. We looked at them and inferred how we would make this product. I would say the buttons needed to the upgrade the most. We we’re thinking of the elderly at the moment. To process we practiced were just using real world situations and listening to each other’s ideas.
Overall, I think my group’s project could’ve been much better if it wasn’t for the timing. All we needed were a few more days, but I think we still did pretty well. I wouldn’t mind working on this again. It really made me think about how the engineering world works.
